The moment we drove into the driveway of this house, we were impressed with the amount of potential it has to offer. Not only it sits on a large lot, but it has great bones and a perfect location.
Entering into a large driveway with 2 parking garages gives a welcoming feel; however, the narrow stairs leading into the house were disproportioned compared to the large façade; walking between two stone walls makes it a little claustrophobic.
The large modern concrete slab stairs were a perfect replacement, making the curb more welcoming and balanced. To accomplish a perfect marriage of modern and old, the existing stucco was removed and replaced with dark siding that matches the new black railing. All these changes and the color pallet that goes very well with the existing gorgeous natural stone make this project a perfect example of a successful facelift.
The house was renovated from floor to ceiling on all levels. From the main floor with an open concept kitchen, living, and dining, to the master bedroom with larger windows that fills the space with bright natural light to the second floor, all new bedrooms, and full washrooms. Last but never least, framing and finishing the basement level with a large recreation room with a wet bar and fireplace is great for entertaining and having family and friends.
This project combined all kinds of renovation that can take place in a house; it was a challenge from design to construction but was an amazing experience from start to end.
